When a business wants more profit they can simply lay off workers and force the remaining workers to work longer for less pay.
That is forced labor. Jobs are undemocratic and antithetical to what Americans want to believe we stand for ... democracy freedom, justice and equal opportunity. Yet over decades and accelerated by Reagan the middle class has been destroyed. It is no coincidence that public education and workers rights to collectively bargain has declined significantly while Corporations have taken over everything in OUR lives. The mass media, our state local and federal government and even institutions such as religion.
When a business owner doesn't want to take a cut in pay or use surplus profits to weather economic downturns workers are trashed. In fewer cases business owners and managers sacrifice along side the the rank and file.
But usually jobs and workers are used as adjustable placeholders for corporate profits, and in those instances those in control routinely lay off workers.
Ironically were it not for bashing unemployment compensation and food stamps and social assistance - the GOTP would be an irrelevant minority party in America.
And today more and more Americans are realizing they were given an early education that excluded Marx's economic theories and instead emphasized that Presidents don't tell lies about chopping down cherry trees.
Now after Nixon, Bush and Clinton - we know that Presidents lie.
To this very day most Americans have not understand Karl Marx's definitions of socialism and communism even while they rail against those who would destroy nature for profit while the masses suffer basic needs.
Few corporations will reduce their surplus or executive and ownership salaries before reducing those of their workers. This creates a downward ripple effect on the economy which can be easily weathered by those who cause economic downturns.
Some few owners and management will share the burden of economic bad times with workers. That is an example of a mild form of socialism, where human beings voluntarily recognize working and sacrificing together is for the benefit of all.
Somehow in some sick convoluted twisted way human society is coerced to believe we must protect the individual especially those who have the most power are the greediest, are immoral and have no scruples.
Examples of the manifestation of the abuse of the tyranny of the minority that controls our lives, are the Iraq and Afghan wars,
Wars have made a minority of very powerful Americans even more powerful and wealthier than they already were .... while the vast majority of humans across the planet continue to struggle due to the displacement of resources by wars.
Contrast the state of the union today with the policies of the politicians over time.
How could anyone embrace the policies of exclusion propagated by politics for decades?
