When I listen to the cable news on CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, FOX and HLN my take away is the same.
To lesser and greater degrees we are being fed pablum while the meat and potatoes is hidden away somewhere.
Some channels spice up their pablum with lies (FOX) while others like CNN neutralize the pablum with equivocations in the name of fairness and balance. MSNBC uses selective truth to get across their views ... better than lies but at times also misleading.
HLN and CNBC are acceptable although not very informative. Pablum with apple sauce mixed in.
The weather channel has always been my favorite as well as sports sans the commentators.
My message here is that we need to become more self-aware when it comes to what influences our thinking.
We are all essentially on the same diet of pablum, fed to us slowly spoonful by spoonful so as not to call attention to what is contained in the porridge.
I find it frightening that so many are unable to understand themselves as a projection of what others want them to be .... the endless car and beer commercials .... the endless parade of flawless models that are designed to be pscho-reflections of ourselves.
The solution?
It is simple.
Watch less television and spend more time looking in a mirror and thinking.
Ask yourself who owns the media? and what they are trying to accomplish?
Also ask yourself why anything with the word public is under attack by the radicalized right?
Are masterpiece theater and Big Bird threatening the power of corporate media messages?
