While traditional "movements" have a predictable shape and form, occupy wall street does not.
Many argue that having no definition is a flaw in OWS ... but I state here unequivocally the that is the over-whelming strength of OWS.
OWS is a cloud of opinion manifested in crowds of human beings ... unorganized yet unified in purpose.
What is that purpose?
To bring to the forefront the mass injustice of our political and economic systems and the tools used to distort reality.
This is a mouthful so let me rephrase in simpler terms.
Th emasses are being manipulated by a media that is owned by a infinitely small number of human beings.
This transcends international boundaries and is a global condition.
Governments and institutions of all kinds provide the glue that holds together a massively deceptive view of humanity itself.
Still have a problem getting your mind around what I am saying?
Let me try to further simplify by asking a few simple questions.
Do you believe poverty, disease, war, ignorance, famine, crime and other social ills are unavoidable?
Most will say yes but that it is impractical to imagine how that could be given "human nature".
Let's now look at the causes for all of these ills.
In no order of particular importance
Crime is MOST caused by: genetics? poor education? economics? society? family environment? geography? racism? bigotry? discrimination? selfishness?
War is still considered an acceptable solution to settle disputes due to: history? tradition? habit? beliefs? opinions?ambitions? greed?
If we examine the causes, solutions exist or can be created to drastically reduce and eventually eliminate crime and war.
The same applies to the list of poverty, disease, famine and ignorance.
In fact a collective effort to address all of these ills of humankind will reinforce and accelerate their elimination.
What is required are not political candidates but mass determination and resistance manifested in the most powerful weapon humans have.
Gandhi would be happy to know that as consumers we can simply help ourselves become happier and healthier while at the same time changing those who do just the opposite.
