One of the myths born of conventional wisdom that we viewers and listeners hear all the time is the concept of balance.
Balance and equality would on the surface appear to be the same thing, but they are not. Take the right wing media as the prime example.
Yes that's correct ... I said the "right wing media" ... you know ... the media that is owned, sponsored and managed by right leaning capitalists.
Do George Soros or Warren Buffett own any large media outlets?
Even MSNBC has right wing footprints all over it ... especially now that ownership has changed .... can you say "purge".
Balancing out something that is unbalanced favors one side .... in this case the GOTP who represent the 1% .....
The billionaires automatically start at 50% in the corporate owned media ... while the 99% is so busy working for them that they don't have much time to think.
The question is how many wealthy Americans are fair? Although it only takes a handful to sway opinion with massive waves of propaganda over communication channels they also own.
The Internet remains one of the last vestiges of free speech and that is being hacked away at everyday.
The majority of Americans favor the policies of the middle which OUR President also represents ... my own guess is roughly 67% of Americans agree with OUR Presidents platform for America.
But how does the GOTP convince 50% of the 99% to support their bankrupt policies?
Who and what is responsible?
It is not the concept of freedom of speech that is at issue ... individuals should be heard above the noise of a crowd .... but not to the detriment of the crowd.
The freedom to lie is the fly in the ointment of democracy. The constitution did not anticipate mass media ... yet our SCOTUS has yet to realize that.
It stands to reason that if the few with the most can use the media as their personal megaphone democracy becomes a corporate talking point and not a reality.
The furthest thing from being democratic on this planet is a corporation.
Yet OUR nation is on the verge of falling further into the abyss of profit mongering that typifies the totalitarian culture of corporatism.
It has gotten to the point where Americans are lied too so often and with such conviction that the lies are ingrained in our lives. This has been going on for decades.
How could any human being accept arguments against stopping pollution? Yet the argument of cost is used and accepted by many all the time!
Wars is perhaps the most blatant example of the distortion of views based on lies. The military industrial complex is the sugar daddy of the Corpocracy ... and the billionaires who routinely buy off huge chunks of OUR Government with campaign contributions and promises of future jobs.
Lobbyists and influence peddling is a recognized industry.
The SCOTUS has sanctified corporate person-hood bringing OUR nation one step closer to total financial slavery.
Meanwhile Americans sit dazed by what is happening around them. Foreclosures, unemployment, theocracy, violent swings in securities markets that wipe out an entire life's savings in the blink of an eye.
Yet, the Romney's of the world keep rolling on .....
