I support OUR President and thankfully there are many white males like myself who do likewise.
I grew up in a neighborhood that was experiencing racial turmoil, East New York Brooklyn.
There was a Park called Highland Park surrounded by predominately white neighborhoods ... I would say middle to upper middle class homes
on tree lined streets.
I did not live in one of these neighborhoods and was right by an elevated train one block from Atlantic Avenue - this will mean something to those who know Brooklyn.
Atlantic Avenue divided predominately white neighborhoods from predominately minority neighborhoods.
To get to the Park minorities had to cross through the white neighborhoods.
Very few minorities did. My friends were all white males and most were racist without knowing why.
It was their upbringing I was to later realize. My parents rarely spoke in derogatory terms about non-whites.
My Grandfather who came from Italy and was old school italian and spoke in broken english, would make some occasional remarks.
Nothing overtly offensive and always in italian.
My friends influenced me the most.
There were gangs and turmoil and conflicts .... fortunately nothing that led to killings.
Having seen both sides of the "white male fence" when young helps me understand the influence neighborhoods and families and your peers can have on racism.
As I grew older - white male racism was always there - over time less in abundance and less so based on education and economics.
Poorer white less educated white males tend to be more racist, older white males like me much more so .... southern white males and those who unlike me never lost the influence racism has had on their persona. The reluctance of the south to let go of the dark side of the civil war.
The myths about minorities have been reinforced by neglect over time ... those who created the lower class have forgotten their role in doing so. The failure to properly fund public schools and social programs while asserting they cost too much or were a waste of money. It was all a lie. To this very minute social welfare and public schools are grossly under funded.
This is the underlying reason that America leads the world in crime!
I haven't succumbed to the lies and in fact have learned over time what a significant role whites have played in dividing our nation.
Not only by color, but by religion, nationality and even sex. The GOTP epitomizes this culture of division.
I say to all white males out there ... stop and think before you vote in November. The same oppressive and neglectful policies of the GOTP that has built a lower class - applies to many of you as well.
Not only poor americans attend under-funded public schools ... poor and middle class whites do as well.
The GOTP relies heavily on the influence of the racist upbringing of white males to survive as a political force - especially in the southern States.
If we want a better America and a fair shot for all poor or not .... OUR President represents what we so desperately need to get OUR act together and move OUR nation forward.
White males for Obama and America RISE!
