getting dark
Too often lately it seems the humidity and the lack of a breeze intensifies the oppressive heat. My cure for the climate change induced attack on humankind is simple.
Within a short walking distance there is a bridge and if I walk to the exact center and stand at the rail looking up river - I'll catch a slight breeze on bad days and a nice breeze on average days ... but I really enjoy the windy days when I have to grab my Mets cap to keep it from being torn away by a gust of wind.
Wind cleanses my mind and invigorates my spirit ... and when the wind has a chilly bite and is strong enough to cause you to catch your breath and you are forced to turn your back to it - it is at it's very best!
I can recall once needing to walk backwards all the way to school in the face of a blinding howling blizzard - in order to be able to breath!
Why was I going to school? - I'm not sure - but I was greeted in the school gym by a number of other red cheeked hardy souls like myself.
