Given that most who align themselves with a given religion aren't practicing it - and the fact that religious organizations receive tax exemptions - a growing number of secular Americans are paying for the holy rollers in this country.
That is not fair and balanced. Religion is mythology for a growing number of enlightened humans who understand evolution and science.
Billions of oppressed humans however are conveniently distracted by their religion.
Poor, oppressed and disadvantaged humans often have little they can other than pray even to the point that they kill one another over the differences in their religious beliefs.
Protestants and Catholics in Ireland are an example of how even an industrialized nation can become mired in mythological wars inspired by religion.
The ability for religion to distract the public at large and divide us as Americans is precisely why the GOTP has placed so much effort into religious issues. We are regressing and becoming the middle eat. Regression is the legacy of the GOTP.
Singularly abortion is being used as a wedge to divide Americans 50% - 50% on an issue that should remain private and personal.
That is why we have a two party system instead of unity of purpose. That is why we are making no progress as a nation.
It is insane that in 2012 such large segments of the population are caught up in an argument about religious beliefs. The corporate owned, sponsored and managed media is responsible and the GOTP is the facilitator.
On one hand we have national laws that already draw the lines distinctly, and on the other we have a political party that keeps erasing those lines.
While some who claim to be religious complain about tax dollars being used to fund abortions - we all are distracted from the real issue -which is why is our Government bankrolling religion? Why are each of us footing the bill for tax exempt religious organizations that are interfering with OUR Government?
Health versus wealth is my simple assessment. Religious contributions are tax deductible. It is no coincidence that those who claim to be spiritual leaders in this nation are the wealthiest as well.
Religion is a business that we Americans are giving a perpetual bail-out too.
This is either unconstitutional or there is a serious flaw in the constitution as there was in the case of slavery and women's rights!
The majority needs to correct this in November.
