Turmoil in the wealthiest nations on earth are the result of the footprint of capitalism across the globe. The over-reaction to a decrease in profits was too punish the masses with spending cuts. Those who could most afford it sacrificed little and recouped their losses with sophisticated multi-national monetary strategies aided by national fiscal policies.
The goal was simply to protect the wealthy ... and the inevitable result is that the masses are finally realizing that fact.
In order to take an ultra-macro economic view of our planet .... from an ultra-bean counters standpoint you must envision not countries or ideologies but an ultra-macro balance sheet of earth as follows:
Humans positive market value
Humans negative market value
Nature and earth plus/minus net human value
What has been happening over time is that humans are reducing the ultra-macro net worth of the planet earth including nature and generating a net negative human contribution to this ultra-macro balance sheet.
Nature is a mostly recoverable and restorable resource but all that humanity has done is withdraw from natures value
Nature feeds humans which keeps them alive.
You might now realize it in America ... but food is a growing problem on earth. The ocean which sustains two thirds of humans on earth is slowly dying.
The human economic systems from an ultra-macro viewpoint are short-sighted based on the influence of capitalism.
Humans tend to think in terms of their own individual lifespan and not the future.
The oft heard cry bout children and grand children is ingenuous.
There are also many exit strategies being developed by some of the wealthiest and most powerful humans on earth.
None of these exit strategies provides for the human species but instead relies on targeted solutions for a minority of humans.
Here is an accompanying ultra-macro profit and loss statement:
Gross ultra-macro income:
natural resources (new & recovered & restored)
human labor (NOTE C)
human intellect (NOTE C)
natural resources (consumed)
Climate change (NOTE A)
Net Ultra-macro Income
(Income minus expenses) (NOTE B)
NOTE A: Climate change and global warning are consider one and include volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and weather related events
NOTE B: Consumption of natural resources exceeds new & restored or recovered
NOTE C: human labor and intellect are diminishing for the human species as a whole but increasing for a minority of humans due to technological advances in genetics, robotics, medicine and the various sciences.
The important thing to note in my analysis is that while the majority of humans are experiencing a declining quality of life a minority of humans continues to experience an exceptional quality of life.
I reference this as the minority bubble. The plutocracy.
Now I remind you that since this is an ultra-macro view that the minority though heavily concentrated in america is not confined to one nation.
There is a ruling class on earth that transcends national borders. The UK for example is experiencing some cognitive dissonance as more and more citizens are seeing their lives diminished by the tyranny of the minority.
In america much the same has been happening. As wealth and power is concentrated in fewer and fewer hand .... the tyrants seek to rebuild the governmental infrastructure to eliminate a representative democracy by shrinking the democratically created central government.
The groundwork has been laid in many ways .... using conventional wisdom for example .... the concepts of a two party system and the concepts that freedom of speech includes the right for the media to lie as well as the personhood given to financial institutions aka corporations.
The net has been cast and the majority caught in the net are human fish .... seeking jobs to sustain themselves.
My proposition to correct this - is to reorganize the planet and declare chapter eleven .... combine all the econoic powers of the world into one and cap the income of the wealthy minority while taking away their power.
Wealth is not being equitably distributed to humanity. Those humans who live in third world countries are being exploited by their rulers who are accommodated by capitalism.
There should be no competition for resources needed for humanity. Instead there should be a common purpose for all humans which is to caretake those resources that allow the human species to live and thrive.
Freedom is not necessary when all are free from inequity.
