This subject is complex in regards to the fact that a minority or majority is amorphous ....
which leads us to conclude that we are at one time or another either separately or concurrently members of both the minority and majority ....
and we are at the core, each minorities of one considering we each control our own thoughts .. or at least we think we do.
That is where it gets tricky because propaganda on the media and peer suasion play a major role in shaping out thoughts and our beliefs ....
the gun lobby for example would have us believe that disallowing automatic weapons takes away their freedoms under the second amendment .. while at the same time we have law enforcement and a military who are equipped and properly trained to defend us.
So we have criminals with automatic weapons because we insist that regular americans should have automatic weapons ... but for what reason? The right to do what?
Therein lies one of the many fallacies of freedom. Someone who open carries in a public venue is defining freedom and usurping the freedoms of those with children who feel threatened by gun carrying individuals. That is an example of the tyranny of the minority .. which is falsely equated with freedom ..... and although we draw the line on freedom with many things in our society .. we manage to give ourselves the freedom to own weapons that accomplish only one thing. Murder.
That is an example of the tyranny of the minority.
More in keeping with current affairs .. we have a minority consensus of opinion that imposed itself on a plurality of voters and on ALL americans. NOT voting doesn't mean you are not a citizen in a democracy .. but the minority in control at the moment says if you don't vote we can do what we want ...
Thus we have wars and recessions and often times americans are denied the freedom to live by the calculated neglect of those in charge.
Make no mistake .... cutting spending and balancing budgets is about paying the already wealthy minority on this planet interest on the debt they have induced us to incur .... mostly through expenditures we have little control over and for which there are no conceivable humanitarian benefits.
WE have a nation of restrooms built to accomodate those whom we have sent to fight needless wars and have lost limbs!
