Everyone in the world should get food stamps, medicare stamps and housing stamps. As for clothes we should all become nudists!
The economic systems we have now are designed around supply and demand in order to create profits for the few while most people on earth suffer to varying degrees from the inequitable distribution of natural resources.
The theory that prices will insure the efficient and fair distribution of resources is fallacious.
We Americans wouldn't know - since most of us have enough or more than enough to live. And as we continue to destroy the planet with our reckless consumption - we can afford the luxury of bottled water and air cleaners to replace what we have polluted.
We need an army to protect us from the rest of the world as it becomes obvious that we are destroying the planet with our irresponsible consumption.
America the nation has become more of a gated community than ever - and also individually we each create gated neighborhoods shutting out one another using money and education and race as differentiators.
It's sad but true that we have three classes of society based on economics. There should only be one class if we are all equal.
We each distinguish ourselves not by what we do, but by what we wear, and drive and live in -
Greed has always been the fuel that runs the engine of economics that America has invented and calls capitalism.
When it comes to food nature supplies the planet with more than enough to feed all that lives. Yet humans don't sustain and replenish what they take from nature and distribute resources unequally among themselves. Monetary systems are based on fictitious value. Can you eat money or stock certificates? Nature should be the focal point for all economics. When there is adequate supply there is no want and no profits either.
Food stamps represent something of real value to humanity - not gold in Fort Knox, not nuclear weapons in silos, not expensive cars - but live sustaining food.
My point is that humanity has developed a false value system based on creating need and want - not fairness or proper management of natures bounty. The conventional wisdom is that those with money have earned the right to live better and longer or lately to live at all!
The recent health care debate is about lives not money - and social security is about lives as well. Those with money want to hoard it to stay alive longer at the expense of the masses.
How does an entire planet get back on the right track?
Food stamps. That's a good place to start! Not one person should have to pay for food.
And then we can focus in on medical stamps and housing stamps as well.
What do you think?
