One thing that strikes me when I see news videos of people in other countries is the lack of obesity - I mean sure there are fat people - but not anywhere as much as in America.
It's embarrassing to walk down an aisle in Walmart and need to turn around and enter the aisle from the other end - because several fat people are clogging the lane.
Why embarrassing? Because their humans and I'm a human - and I could also stand to lose 15 pounds!
But the ugliness is not confined to our cosmetic appearance - which we place a lot of value in ...
We think ugly and act ugly - take Limbaugh making disparate remarks about the recently departed George Steinbrenner. Don't get me wrong -I'm a Mets fan and detest the Yankees and have always condemned Steinbrenners approach to what I thought was "buying" a world series championship.
The truth is Steinbrenner was Steinbrenner and the Yankees were and are a great collection of talented players. I savor the home grown variety of world champions but even the Mets went out for Santana & Beltran -
Anyways the subject at hand is ugly Americans - and you need only look at the headlines of articles posted here (including my own) to understand what I'm saying.
Are not many of the people you adore and listen too schmucks?
The word change crops up time and again - how can we change? should we change? I can only speak for myself looking back over 64 years on this planet. Yes. Time is running out - the schmucks outnumber the non-schmucks.
Many will conclude - why should I care? - perhaps they are young with no cares or perhaps they are financially fortunate and self-indulged - but most are so buried in their own efforts to survive each day that they don't have time to think!
Take the worst situation in America and ask yourself how it would compare to the best situation in many parts of the world - particularly undeveloped nations.
We need to stop eating the junk that gives us blemishes and distorts our body shape.
It also distorts the way we think - bigger seats on planes - commercials with fat people - movies that insinuate being stupid is being cool!
A nation of schmucks. Is that our legacy?
